I stumbled upon Katie and Ian’s wedding in San Anselmo, California and fell in love with their wedding design not only because it was so natural with a birchwood theme, but because they hired a live Silhouette Artist as one of their Reception features!  The renown  Karl Johnson, who comes from a family of Silhouette Artists, was invited to do personal silhouette cut-outs of each guest that each took only 3 minutes!  He cut two pieces at one time, creating a keepsake for the guests as well as a keepsake for the bride and groom to use as a surprise guest log.  How clever and special is that?!  Silhouettes are the IT trend for weddings now, being incorporated in invitations, reception decor, and as Katie and Ian have shown us, as an Interactive Recption feature!  If you dig the Silhouette theme, hiring a Silhouette Artist would be the perfect touch!  Enjoy the beautiful photos from Katie and Ian’s unique and charming wedding!

The guests were welcomed into outdoor tents with tables covered in birchwood linen, garden roses, and hand made tags hung on each guest’s seat.  Placecards were placed on small pieces of birchwood and the hand embroidered linen had the couple’s last name initial for Barry entwined in rasberries as a play on their name.

The decadent dessert buffet was filled with the couple’s favorite cakes and macaroons, while a bird’s nest was filled with chocolate quail eggs for guests to take.  Love this charming take on their birchwood theme!
