Fashion Wedding Photography Defined

When you begin to plan a wedding, there are so many choices to make and so many vendors to see. One of the most important vendor choices that you will make (besides who your florist will be), is who your photographer will be. After viewing all the online portfolios and blogs, I’m sure your head is swimming with all the possibilities of what could be, and at that point you must ask yourself this: How do I want to be portrayed on my special day and how do I want my story to unfold? Our friends at Lin and Jirsa Photography have a great article in the Educational Section of their website that explains the five different styles and formats of wedding photography today. Because I am an avid devotee of fashion, I would like to focus on Fashion Wedding Photography.

“Fashion photography is a genre of photography that is focused around displaying clothing and other fashion items for commercial purposes. This style of photography is popular in large metropolitan areas such as Los Angeles. However, there are several unique photography techniques that are employed in fashion photography which we borrow in our wedding photography style. These techniques include the usage of unique off camera lighting, fashion-esque poses and expressions, along with dramatic backgrounds.” – Lin and Jirsa Photography

I truly LOVE this style of photography. Blame it on the stack of fashion magazines that I have in every corner of my home, but there is something wonderful and magical about being captured in a fashion moment for your big day –it really is enchanting. One of the photographers that I adore, Jennifer Skog, is an expert at Fashion Wedding Photography and I think from the images below, you will see why. She is coming out with a new photography service that she has coined “Couture Life” that is purely Fashion photography bliss! We’ll update you all when that particular service is unveiled. For now, feast your eyes on some serious Fashion Wedding Photography!

Fall in Love with Couture Hair Pieces

It’s Bridal Fashion Week and we are continuing on our week long salute and celebration to fashion and all the wonderful accessories that it entails. There is a huge trend in Fashion of bringing styles from the 30′s and 40′s back to the forefront and its no different with Bridal Fashion. One of the best accessories to pay tribute to the 30′s and 40′s is a chic and couture hair piece or veil, and no one does it better than Leah C. Couture Millinery. I am a huge fan of her work because she has the ability to bring splashes of color to all her pieces and her designs really push the limits of a couture hair piece. I think that once you see her work below, you will be in love!

Don’t you love the vibrant colors in these hair pieces? The details and designs are divine!

Fresh off the runway, Jenny Packham and Jenny Lee both included fabulous luxe hair adornments on their runways for Fall 2010.

Gone with the Wind Inspired Gowns

It’s Bridal Market Week and New York is in a Bridal Fashion Week Frenzy! If you are a follower of our blog, then you must know how much I am infatuated by all things Fashion. So as a salute to Bridal Fashion Week, we will be doing a week long post of all things Fashion as it relates to Brides and Events.

I am absolutely in love with the fact that for Fall 2010, ultra volume is back. From the runways of Kenneth Pool and Reem Acra, I couldn’t help but think that there must have been some inspiration from the classic Gone with the Wind and the Crinoline Period. Fashion during the Crinoline Period consisted of the staple hoop skirt (wooden/plastic framing that gives dresses their “poof”), tiers of crinoline fabric (starched fabric) that rested on top of the hoop skirt, and a tight bodice to wrap up the look. Whether it be an insane amount of volume or endless tiers of fabrics and chiffons, we are so excited that our favorite designers are bringing back such a fabulous period as inspiration for Brides of 2010.

Inspiration from the Epic Romance ‘Gone with the Wind’. Is there anyone that does not love this film?!
