Vintage Estate Wedding in Yountville

Sandra and Amar knew of one another in high school but never connected.  Unbeknown to Sandra, Amar secretly always had a thing for her and it wasn't until they both moved to New York, separately, that Amar gathered the courage to finally make his move and make Sandra his.  Since they both grew up in California and their families still resided in California, they decided to get married at the Vintage Estate in Yountville.  Inspired by the beautiful cuisine of Napa Valley and being that Sandra herself is in the wholesale foods business in New York, they wanted to infuse farm elements into their wedding by using herbs, fruits and vegetables as a design accent.  We had a blast incorporating these details into the design of their day and our pal, Delbarr Moradi, captured the details beautifully for you to enjoy below!

To incorporate the farm to table element into their wedding day, we created a wooden wall that had each guest's name strung to it with natural herbs used for cooking such as rosemary, thyme, basil and lavender.

For the reception, we chose a really light and fresh palette of lavender and cremes and incorporated artichokes into the floral design with the help of Ahana Design.  Each guest had a fig at their place setting and also had a crossword puzzle that was custom created by our team for guests to entertain themselves with.  On the back of the crossword puzzle was a marriage advice card that they used in lieu of a guestbook.  Watercolor menus were displayed on mini easels to further create the feeling of a natural and organic, farm to table feel.

Each guest was given a bottle of wine that was custom blended for the couple...how lucky were the guests!  Perfect Endings helped create the most beautiful watercolor cake in hues of lavenders and blues.

The evening was such a beautiful affair held under bistro lights in Napa Valley.  Thank you, Sandra and Amar, for having us along to celebrate your love!

Intimate Wedding at the Elizabeth Gamble Gardens

Wedding season is in full swing and as we continually produce dreamy weddings for our couple, it's always such a treat to get photos back of weddings that we've worked on earlier this year.  I love this wedding that we're about to share with you, it was an intimate wedding for 48 guests that was inspired by English Gardens in the countryside.  X and T wanted to create a really intimate feel for their day that was tailored and polished, full of blushes and cremes accented by lace, golds and whimsy.  If you follow our work, you'd know that that is our exact aesthetic!  This is the inspiration board that we created for them:

English Countryside Wedding Inspiration

This wedding was truly a labor of love for us because we not only did full event planning, full design and custom stationery for this couple, we also did all of the floral design!  Special thanks to the incredibly talented Hannah Suh Photography for the photos, enjoy this intimate wedding celebration featured below!

The bride loved peonies and how perfect was it that the wedding was in May, which is prime peony season!

The bride loved peonies and how perfect was it that the wedding was in May, which is prime peony season!

For the ceremony, we created a simple design to accent the already beautiful grounds of the Elizabeth Gamble Gardens.  Our team hand painted the ceremony sign and we did a simple and clean, draped ceremony front for the altar and had flower bunches with long ribbons lining the aisle.

For cocktail hour, guests were invited to find their names on a beautiful display of cards with lace accents hanging above a bed of soft and fluffy flowers.

The reception was held indoors and in true #cegwedding fashion, we gave them room a facelift with some drape to create a clean, blank palette to feature the reception design that was created for them.  We had two long dining tables with white vineyard chairs and velvet damask linens in white accented with blush pink chiffon runners for the table.  We adorned each table with lush, blush and creme blooms and accented each place setting with Gold Rimmed Chargers, Gold rimmed glassware and gold flatware.  The bride and groom loves Paris Baguette so we incorporated mini strawberry tarts with each guest's name on mini flags as place cards.  We created a lace inspired menu to accent the table settings and had candles galore to really give it a romantic and intimate vibe.  The result?  The dreamiest of settings.

Thank you again to X and T for entrusting us with planning your day and for letting us craft your English Countryside Garden inspired wedding!

Sherbert Inspired Wedding at the Omni San Francisco

We started off this year with a fun and whimsical, sherbert inspired city wedding at the Omni Hotel in San Francisco.  We're all about the little details that can add punch and personality into your wedding design and for this one, we played with fun sherbert colors and patterns!

We kept the ceremony simple with a draped front and drew in color by outfitting 1/3 of the chairs with custom modern patterns in corals.  The bride and groom designed their own stationery under our artistic direction and the watercolor programs added additional pops of colors to the ceremony space.

For the escort cards, we wanted to show a rainbow of sherbert hues and arranged each guest name so that it looked like the colors of the rainbow...#cueskittlescommercial

What I love about the Omni Hotel is that they have fabulous chandeliers in place that run down the middle of the room.  They were perfect to put our head table under.  The custom chair cushions that we created also added an extra element of whimsy to the head table which I loved!

Sneak Peak of Prettiness

Happy first week of June!  We designed a really fun styled shoot last week and just wanted to share some sneak peaks with you.  Enjoy the images and may it bring some inspiration and color into your week!

Loulu Palm Estate Destination Wedding in Hawaii

We are absolutely giddy to have two features in the current issue of Utterly Engaged Magazine Volume 3!  But today I would like to highlight a beautiful wedding that we had the pleasure of planning, designing and doing floral design for at the Loulu Palm Estate in Hawaii!  This wedding is near and dear to my heart because the bride is the sister of one of my dear photographer pals, Delbarr Moradi, and when a fellow vendor trusts you with their family's wedding, well, it's a mental note to self to make it an amazing one!

Sam and Sogol are an amazing couple who have eyes only for one another.  Their smiles are as big as their hearts and when they came to me for their destination wedding, we were inspired to create a colorful wedding that shows off their fun personalities.  I loved the color palette that Sogol was drawn to, which was bright and bold colors, so we set out to create a fuchsia and teal design that was accented by golds and blacks.  How's that for bold?!  She also loves pendant flags so we used that as a source of inspiration for the paper goods that we designed for them, as well as created pendant flags to hang in the tent that we set out at the estate.  I love everything about this couple and the details that we put together for this one, so read on about this fun and fabulous fete!

I loved the bouquets that we created for the gals, they're so bright, cheery and mod!

I loved the bouquets that we created for the gals, they're so bright, cheery and mod!

Some things are blessings in disguise...such as the news of scattered rain the day before the wedding.  This called for a last minute order of a clear tent for the ceremony and it really was an epic call!

We wanted to bring a little hipster fun into the escort card display so we ordered custom sunglasses with the couple's hashtag on them, affixed with their table assignments, for guests to wear throughout the day and keep as a souvenir.  The guests really loved them and I love that they really wore them the entire day!  This was a festive and colorful touch that was definitely one of my favorite details of the year.

How rad does the wedding party look on the beach?

How rad does the wedding party look on the beach?

We designed a tented reception at the private estate that was bursting with color and adorned the ceiling with pendant flags and bistro lights.  We chose colorful fuchsia linens and paired them with gold chargers and bright flowers in gold containers.  My favorite detail of the reception tables were the custom menu wraps that we created with sayings such as "love, adore, aloha, believe and hope" to grace each place setting and tucked personalized menus within each for an added personal touch.  Guests loved these as there was an assortment of sayings per table and guests had a great time sharing the ones that they got!

Instead of a cake, the couple opted to have cupcakes from Hokulani Bakeshop and all I can say is, "yum"!

Love this shot of our beautiful tent all lit up under the evening Hawaii skies!

Sam and Sogol, you both are so beautiful inside and out.  Thank you so much for your trust in us and for having us along to share the experience of your destination wedding in Hawaii!  It was such an honor and beautiful planning journey and I hold you both so dear and close to my hearts!

A Romantic, Dusty Blue, Pink and Gold Wedding

We hope that you had a beautiful and amazing Memorial Day Weekend!  We had the loveliest weekend with two weddings!  Today I'm sharing some detail shots of one of the weddings we had that had a romantic aesthetic with a color palette of dusty blues, pinks and golds.  The photos you are about to see were shot personally by me and I can't wait to share the actual photos by the photographer with you all soon!  Enjoy this beautiful week!

This is the inspiration board that I created for our couple:

Here are the details of their day featuring lovely blooms from my pal Huckleberry Karen Designs!

I'm a strong believer that the invitation suite sets the tone for your guests and for your wedding and I'm so thankful that all our lovely couples think so too!  I am enamored by the stationery suite that we created for this wedding.  This goes down in the books as one of my favorites!

Loved that the groomsmen were all "dappered out" in their blue suits and bow ties.  #treschic

The ceremony at was just ethereal goodness with so many rustic and romantic touches!

Transforming spaces is one of the things that we do best.  We transformed their reception site to fit the aesthetic that we wanted to achieve for 456 guests!  Loved the escort display we created with dusty blue drapes and floral touches.

Our dapper groom with the best suit and bow tie...like ever.

To my dearest Huong and Jimmy, words can't express how much I adore you two.  I'm so sad to hear that you're moving to Connecticut for residency, but so excited at the same time for your new journey together.  May you save lives with the same amount of love and passion that you have for each other!  See you on the East Coast!

Current Floral Trends 2015

Chances are, if you are visiting our page, you are into romance, whimsy, and immensely dreamy things.  After all, if I had to summarize our style, those three things are exactly what makes us who we are, Modern Romantics.

Every component matters in designing your wedding to be a perfect rendition of what you've dreamed of and perhaps one of the most important components, are the flowers!  Friends, never EVER skimp on the flowers.  Many people will spend so much money on their photographer (a good photographer is worth every. single. penny.), and some will say, I don't want to spend too much on the flowers...they will only last for a day.  But let me give you some food for thought, you hire your photographer to take amazing photos because you see the work that they've done through their features on blogs/magazines and you think that if you have that photographer, your wedding will turn out the same as what you've seen.  BUT, the key is this, you have to give your photographers beautiful things to photograph and flowers are always at the top of the list to create that beautiful and dreamy wedding that you've envisioned.  So, make strides to create a healthy floral budget to accomplish the dreaminess that you have your heart set on.

Now that that's out of the way, I wanted to share my favorite floral trends that are happening right now, because they are downright beautiful and what dreams are made of.  This is the wedding rendition of what Bazaar Magazine's previous column "buy, keep, toss" is, spoken in the language of flowers.  Round, tight, centerpieces and bouquets are no longer in trend.  Tall Centerpieces are not in trend anymore either.  Instead, opt for flowy and whimsical arrangements, because they evoke that lust for romance in its purest form.  New shapes in bouquets take the form of an oblong arrangement (think football) and free flowing arrangements that evoke the feeling of just having been picked from the garden.  Centerpieces too, favor asymmetrical designs that are free flowing, loose in arrangement and bursting with foliage.  While tall centerpieces will always be a favorite to bring the glam and drama into a reception space that has tall ceilings, consider hanging a beautiful floral chandelier to fill the negative space rather than to raise the height of your flowers on the table.   I've rounded up some inspirations from some of the floral designers in the industry that inspire me daily for your enjoyment.

So go ahead, channel your inner free spirit when considering the floral design that you want for your wedding celebration.  I promise, you won't regret it.

Modern Wedding at the St. Regis San Francisco

Every so often, you get the chance to meet people that you have instant chemistry with and as time goes on, you find that you've found lifelong friends in them.  Meet this fabulous couple that I've affectionately nicknamed "MJ", who have become just that through the process of planning their wedding over dinners and drinks.  Michelle is a gal who's after my own heart, a girly girl who has fabulous style with a heart of gold and Jon, who is a "get to the point", straight-shooter kinda guy.  Yeap, they are definitely my kind of people.  They are a bold, sassy, modern and colorful couple and we set out to create a wedding design that matched exactly who they are as a couple...and I just love everything about it!

Their wedding design is not for the faint of heart with a fun color palette of navy blue, fuchsia and elements of sequins and mixed textile patterns paired with acrylic detailing.  I always tell my couples that I am not one to shy away from color and patterns so should you dare, I will take it to the next level that aims to dazzle.

See how their day unfolds below.  Caution, this is one of the longest blog posts I've done so beware, you've been warned! =)

Jon is in Marketing and is drawn specifically to modern and sleek design so for their invitation suite and wedding stationery, we used a lot of infographics which I LOVE!

In my humble opinion, their ceremony was out of this world beautiful.  It's one of my favorite ceremony designs because it's just so modern and different.  We draped the St. Regis tent in chiffon and added some ceiling swag and a beautiful crystal chandelier to set the tone.  We created circular seating for the ceremony and had such a modern ceremony design with a white table filled with pink and fuschia blooms created by my pal, Nicole Ha, and how pretty are the acrylic pedestals with the lush arrangements?!

For the reception, we wanted to create a really modern design.  We brought in white sequin linens and geometric blue patterns paired with the Infiniti chair and accented each place setting with corresponding patterned napkins.  Tables were named after the couple's favorite fine dining establishments in the city and were featured on acrylic panels.

My philosophy in designing weddings is to really create a custom "brand" for each couple. I think we've done just that with this reception with the infographic paper goods and the "MJ" logo we created, which is pretty much everywhere.  I don't think any of their guests could forget the look and feel of this wedding.

Since MJ loves dining about town, they created their version of a zagat guide that we designed as favors for guests to take home.  MJ shared with their guests why they love each restaurant they chose and listed their personal favorites at each restaurant for guests to try.  Now that's going the distance to really personalize their day and create a one of a kind experience for guests!

Modern Sparkle Wedding at the Rosewood Menlo Park...Featured on Wedding Chicks!

We had a really pretty wedding featured on Wedding Chicks last week.  Cathy and Chhy are a modern couple that love glitz and glam.  They were originally inspired by the movie, The Great Gatsby, and loved the feeling of throwing a glitzy bash.  Inspired by metal tones and sparkle, we set out to create a modern, one of a kind design for the couple and the result was a true reflection of who they were as a couple:  modern, fun, sparkly and glam!  See the feature on Wedding Chicks here and scroll on for our commentary of their day!

Cathy and Chhy's ceremony is one of my favorite designs that we've created because it's just so modern and fun!  She loves mirrors so we created lots of signage on decals that we put on mirrors.  For the ceremony, we created a wall of tassels (per Studio Mucci) and hand crafted geometric cages that hung from aisle chairs with blooms inside, accented by more tassels!  I loved that the couple trusted us with our vision for the ceremony, it was truly spectacular!

Another fun element of the ceremony?  We created a confetti bar for guests to create their own confetti bag with.  The guests congratulated the couple after the "I Do's" and the image captured by U Me Us Studios is one in a million.

For Cocktail Hour, we used a lot of geometric shapes as a motif and created a wall of hanging geometric shapes with guest names.  To bring the design full circle, we provided triangles for guests to sign on to create a geometric art piece as a memento of their wedding day and the special people that celebrated with them.  I love creating custom ideas like this and seeing them come to life is extra special!

Romantic Blush San Francisco Wedding at the St. Regis, San Francisco...featured on Style Me Pretty!

The reception space is really one of my favorite receptions ever.  To create an elegant feel, we draped the entire ballroom and accented the room in blush pink lighting.  We draped each entrance for drama and had all the tables draped in different fabrics with different textures to create a dreamy feel.  One of my favorite things about the reception is that we combined different tables of Kings tables, oval tables and square tables to really give it a modern feel.  A combination of mixed tables is always my favorite thing to do!  We also used ghost chairs to further create a modern and galactic feel.  Each place setting was accented with a diamonte charger and each table was accented with the most beautiful blooms!

Elegant San Francisco Wedding at the Palace Hotel...Featured on Style Me Pretty!

I can't express how humbled I am that Style Me Pretty featured two of our weddings last week!  We'll be sharing both of the features on our blog this week, starting with this timeless and elegant wedding at the Palace Hotel!  If you are a reality TV junkie, you might know my couple!  Samantha and Mike were contestants on the first season of NBC's Love in the Wild!  From the start, they chose each other and stuck with one another throughout the entire season, battled all the challenges together, fell in love with one another along the way, AND ultimately won the show and traveled the world together compliments of NBC!  Talk about a fairytale love story in real life!!!

Samantha wanted to have a really timeless, classic and elegant wedding so we used a clean color palette of whites and greys with accents of golds and silvers.  We used subtle travel motifs as well as a general theme of "I Choose You" to tell their journey to love through design.  The result?  An utterly elegant and glamorous wedding with lots and lots of modern details, glitter, and the most beautiful couple, ever!  See how their wedding came together below and don't forget to check out the feature on Style Me Pretty here!

These two are just too elegant don't you think?

For the ceremony, we created a really modern and clean design with a draped ceremony front, dressed with a white modern table with the most beautiful blooms from my pal Nancy Liu Chin.

I absolutely LOVED the escort wall display that we created for guests to find their seats with.  We used white feathers to symbolize a "flight of journey" and we hand dipped all the feathers in metallic gold paint and glitter.  These were so fab.

The reception was one glamorous affair held in the Garden Court of the Palace Hotel.  With high ceilings, chandeliers and the most beautiful glass roof, it really is such a regal setting that automatically takes one back in time to a gilded era.  We dressed all of the tables in silver and sequin linens and accented the tables with lush, white blooms.  I especially loved the place settings that we created for the reception with diamonte chargers and menus that we hand dipped in gold glitter!  Suffice to say, the reception shined!

THIS is a glitter and sequin lover's dream!

A custom cake topper with the words "I Choose You" was created to pay homage to the fact that since the beginning of their journey together, they chose one another from the very start and continued to choose one another throughout the journey to the very end.  I love details like this that tell a couple's unique story.

Samantha and Mike, you have one of the best love stories that one could ever dream of and the best part about it all, is that I know that you are as in love with one another today as ever.  Happy First Anniversary to the both of you!!!

Glamourous tented wedding at Viansa Winery in Sonoma..featured on Style Me Pretty!

We are ecstatic that this romantic, pretty and dreamy wedding is featured on Style Me Pretty today!  I loved Ester and Brian as a couple, they were one of those couples that you knew were just crazy about each other and that's my favorite kind of love.  They were also so immensely sweet as people and had such sweet souls.  One of the things that I loved most about them was that they let us run away with the design and trusted our design aesthetic and all of the crazy ideas that we threw at them.  Trust is and will always be, the most important factor in any relationship (especially with your vendors) and when trust is present, amazing things happen.  We had an amazing group of vendors that helped pull the entire design together (see credits below) and had one of my personal favorites, Jen Huang, capture the day in the most beautiful way.  See the full feature here.

For their wedding, they really wanted something that was romantic and dreamy.  Being that their venue was set in beautiful Sonoma, we wanted to create something that was just that with lots of lace, ribbons, chiffon, and flowers in every way that we can use them (traditional, hanging, garlands....my kind of couple!).  With every great design, we started out by creating an inspiration board of the overall aesthetic that we wanted to achieve.

We then carefully designed, created and brought in all the details that would create their romantic and dreamy day.

I absolutely ADORED this invitation suite that we created for them that was perfectly blush and gold.  We added a glitter gold belly band to tie everything together to add some extra bling.

This Ceremony backdrop that we created is definitely a favorite of mine with a floral garland on top with hanging blooms and globes and pink drapes!

The simplest of adornments can really dress up a bar to make it really special, in this case, we used floral garlands.

For the Escort Cards, we created a wall of hanging ribbons that we attached escort cards to, adorned with foliage and hanging blooms.  This one was a showstopper!

This reception was an absolute STUNNER with the chandeliers under the tent with chiffon and tulle.  I loved the hand painted Bride and Groom chairs that we created for the couple.

Sketch to Reality - Brix Vineyards Wedding

Happy Friday!  In a society that is fixated on pinterest (myself included!), sometimes the only way to present new and one of a kind ideas to our couples is to go old school...which means, back to the drawing board..literally!  Here is a sketch that we presented to one of our couples of a way to incorporate their love of books, bookmarks, and reading into an escort display that is, truly, a customized, one of a kind design.  As we always like to say, we don't do boring and we don't do cookie cutter, so keeping it new and keeping it fresh is always at the top of our list!

This pretty wedding will be featured in the next issue of The Knot Magazine and we'll be sure to share it on our blog as well when the time comes =)  Have an amazing weekend lovelies!

Peach and Grey Wedding at Auberge du Soleil

Oh how I love Gloria and Wayne!  These two are my adorable lovebirds from NYC who had their first vacation together in Napa...who loved it so much that they returned to Napa to get engaged at Auberge du Soleil...who ultimately returned to Auberge du Soleil to get married!  Inspired by a neutral color palette of peaches and greys, we wanted to pay homage to the cities that the couple spent their residencies at and the people that they spent their time with for their beautiful destination wedding in Rutherford, CA.  The bride loved accents of lace so we used lace as a base design motif that anchored their overall design via their invitations, an adornment for her bouquet, the escort board display, napkin wraps for their table settings and the prettiest cake design ever.

G+W were a couple that really cared about creating a customized experience for their guests through design (our favorite kind of couples!) so we created custom coasters that had their favorite movie quotes on them and created buttons with the skyscraper of each guest's table that the guests were able to take home as a momento.  As an alternative to the ordinary guestbook, we created skyscraper silhouettes that the guests were able to sign to ultimately create a city skyline for the couple as a keepsake of the most important people in their lives who were present on their big day of love.  For whimsy, we included large balloons with tassels made by our team and little smore kits for guests to roast at the conclusion of the evening.  This one's a tastefully curated, day of love.  Enjoy!

Welcome to our NEW Blog!

We are so excited to showcase our new blog along with our new website!!  (Like SO excited!!!)  We'll be adding a ton of galleries and inspirations weekly so tune in for your weekly dosage of romance and pretty!  To get you started on the prettiness to come, peruse the beautiful photos of the gala we designed at the end of last year inspired by Marie Antoinette, dukes and duchesses!  Thanks for stopping by, we're so glad you're here!

SF NACE Gala at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel

We had the distinct honor of being asked by the San Francisco NACE Chapter (National Association of Catering and Events) to be the designer of the 2014 Gala.  We were just absolutely thrilled!  The gala was held at the prestigious Sir Francis Drake Hotel so we dreamt up an inspiration board that was inspired by Marie Antoinette, The Duchess and chandeliers from the San Francisco Ballet production of Giselle!

We put together a color palette of light duchess blues, pinks, cremes and golds and paired the palette with textures of lace and flowers to create the look.

The gala started with a cocktail hour on the mezzanine floor and guests were instantly welcomed to a champagne reception to set the spirits right!  Guests were then invited to pick up their key for the event, which was set against the gorgeous backdrop with our event name "Rococo" with a jaw dropping floral curtain created by my pal, Amy Burke Designs.

The gala itself was held in the main ballroom of the second floor of the Sir Francis Drake Hotel.  This venue was absolutely perfect for the design that we had in mind as it houses the most beautiful chandeliers in place, waiting to be showcased!  We draped the room to create a romantic and luxe atmosphere upon entry and proceeded to dress the room using duchess blue linens from our friends at  Napa Valley Linens.  Our friends and floral visionaries from Nicole Ha and The Petal Company created luscious blooms in pinks, cremes and golds to adorn the tables and the china and colored goblets from Frances Lane were to die for!  Along with the help of Classic Party Rentals and Blueprint Studios in providing the chairs and additional china and glassware, our design came to life!

One of my favorite accents were the menus that we designed along with Curlicue Designs' hand scripted calligraphy for the event.  They were perfect for the place settings we created along with the napkins that we hand tied with lace.

This event was a true beauty through and through and I am so humbled and honored that the SF NACE Chapter asked us to design this event for their members.  This event also goes to show that when crazy talented and creative artisans come together to collaborate, AMAZING happens and I am, again, humbled by each and every creative vendor that put in their talent and art to work alongside with me on this one.  Our industry is truly an amazing one.
